The 2013 Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run: Event, Q Source Team Exceed Fundraising Goals

Q Source's John Garland (l) and Keith Paul (r).
We're very happy to announce that the 2013 Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk in New York City on September 29, 2013 was a great success. The event saw its biggest turnout ever and exceeded its fund-raising goals (as did the Q Source team, which raised $1,155).

On a beautiful late-September day, more than 30,000 participants turned out to walk/run in memory of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller and the tragic events of 9/11. The Tunnel to Towers organization raises money to help the severely injured first responders and military personnel who lay their lives on the line for America every day. The 2013 event raised between $1.4 million and $2 million for these self-less heroes.

While 2013 was our Web Assistant (and Mastic firefighter), John Garland's, second Tunnel to Towers event, this was the first year that Q Source (inspired by John) fielded a team for the Run. Joined by Q Source President Steve Quail, our Web Developer, Keith Paul, and Marketing Specialist, Katie Gensheimer made their first Tunnel to Towers 5K Run.

"It was a great day honoring great men and women. I feel we all need to take the time to remember those who have and continue to make huge personal sacrifices on our behalf," said Keith. Katie, the newest member of the Q Source family, added "As I am new to 5K running, this was a fun and enlightening experience for me. Seeing everyone united for the cause of remembrance of all the heroes lost on 9/11 and celebrating the lives of the fallen was a very heart-felt, moving experience. Running out of the tunnel to a crowd of firefighters (all holding pictures of lost loved ones) cheering and holding out hands for big high fives is something that I will never forget. All in all, it was a beautiful day full of great people, great weather, and very meaningful way to spend time with friends both old and new. Not to mention the music, complements of the 'Lt. Dan Band' led by actor Gary Sinise. To be perfectly honestly I can't wait for next year!"

Q Source would like to extend its biggest thanks to our families, friends, and colleagues who donated to our team and this wonderful cause. We are already making plans for next year's Run and will look to exceed our goals once again.
