Long Island SMTA Expo 2013: Surface Mount Technology Solutions, Education & Networking

There was an excellent turnout and a wide variety of exhibitors at yesterday's 2013 Long Island SMTA Expo and Technical Forum. Held at the Islandia Marriott in Islandia, NY, the event featured dozens of display tables, educational sessions, and, yes, a delicious lunch.

Topics and product categories represented at the Expo included static control, industrial cleaning, magnification/visual inspection, and industrial lighting. Many of the exhibits provided an opportunity to demo product solutions and technology for surface mount technology applications.

Many of Q Source's leading vendors were exhibiting at the Expo, including AIM, Static Solutions, Weller, and Techspray. The exhibit hall provided vendors a great opportunity to network with, and educate, customers and colleagues. At the Static Solutions table, Marketing Manager Ingrid Cohen, said "The SMTA Expo is a great way to see old friends and meet new customers." Over at the AIM Soldering exhibit, Regional Sales Manager Tim O'Neill touted an article in the current issue of Circuits Assembly Magazine that looks at AIM's efforts to address the topic of "conflict tin."

Over at Q Source's exhibit (helmed by Territory Account Specialist Diane Semple), a number of vendor products were available for demo including items from Daylight Company, Kolver, O.C. White, Static Solutions, and Unitron. Peter Indrigo, Senior Vice President of Unitron, spent time at the Q Source table demonstrating products such as Unitron's TCS Pro 500 Digital Video Visual Inspection System. Indrigo mentioned that he thought the number of exhibitors participating at yesterday's Expo was the most he remembered ever seeing. He agreed that the Expo provides "a great way to see your customers."
